Description:

The Cucumber Tree is 30 meters tall and its leaves are 10-24 cm long. Also, the leaves are 5-12 cm wide. The leaves are pointed and the tree bark is brownish-grey.

The cucumber tree has greenish-yellow flowers 6-8 cm long. Its fruit is shaped like a cone. The fruit is 3-8 cm.

Cucumber trees do no grow cucumbers.

Environment:

The Cucumber Tree likes to be around moist and swampy areas, near headwaters located in forests.

It is found in the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Forest Region.

Problems:

The Cucumber Tree's enemy is only man.

The Cucumber Tree lost its habitat from logging and from clearing for crops.

Solutions:

There are laws for logging and making land for crops.

The Cucumber Tree is put in botanical gardens to be safe and enjoyed by everyone.

Summary:

I wanted to learn about the Cucumber Tree because it is rare and most people don't know about it. I already knew the Cucumber Tree was on the list of endangered species.

I learned interesting things about the Cucumber Tree. I also learned that many plants and animals are endangered.

People should know which plants are endangered so they don't make them extinct. Everyone should know about endangered species.
